I wasn't sure what to expect as the place is fairly new and I couldn't even see it on Google maps street view. So I took a chance and wasn't disappointed. I wasn't sure if the hotel had a proper reception desk. It does, and it is 24 hour. With very helpful and friendly staff who organized tours for me etc. I also wasn't sure if there was a breakfast room. There is, just beside reception. Of ample size and a decent feed. Mostly Continental, but varied and filling (7-10am). The rooms are a decent size and are spotless. The building itself has an elevator serving a split level style building. It seems to be an old apartment building that has been converted to suit. It has been converted well with modern amenities. Nothing feels dated. The area itself is very handy for the main square and is not on a busy street. I was sleeping on the first floor facing the front street and slept soundly. I am solo traveller and found this to be ideal. Would stay again, and probably will in the summer. Darragh - Dublin.

Great central location. Just a few minutes stroll into the main square, but yet quite for a good night sleep with good amenities close by. Good breakfast (continental with a few hot choices) and friendly staff. Very clean and spacious two bedrooms apartment. Beds are comfortable and a large comfortable sofa for chilling. Ventilation in the bathroom is excellent. It doesn't steam up at all after shower, very impressed! I would suggest having a few more hooks in the bathroom for hanging clothes/towels. There were four of us sharing the apartment, and not enough hooks for us (we've used the towel rail too). It's a shame the apartment only has one bathroom. It would have been perfect if there's a second bathroom/showroom, or even just a separate toilet. It's just a little inconvenient when someone is using the bathroom and someone needs to use the toilet, but we've managed for 6 nights. I would definitely recommend this aparthotel, and I would stay here again.

I can’t put in to words how fantastic this place is! The apartments we stayed in were huge, beautifully presented and immaculately clean. Perfectly located just a stones throw from the main square but not too close so you can enjoy some peace in amongst the hustle and bustle of the city. The service was second to none, and staff were incredibly helpful particularly with allowing us to store luggage on our check-out day, and ordering taxis to the airport. Breakfast was excellent, just what we needed to set us on for the day. And if you do decide to use the mini bar it is very well priced as are drinks that you can buy in reception to take to your room.

Everything about this apartment was perfect! From apartment #3.1 you can hear the trumpeter at St. Mary’s while sitting on balcony. Service was superb. Filip and Julia (at front desk) went above and beyond to make our stay perfect. I am very OCD and these two were patient and extremely knowledgeable each time I had a question or concern. Breakfast is American style and the best we have had on our 6-week trip across Europe. Location is perfect, too! Of all the hotel apartments we have stayed in, Portal House by far is number one on the list. If you value customer service, this is the place!!

Perfect location, just around the corner from the main square. Hotel was clean and good value for money. Always a few steps to manage at the entrance as well as to get to your room but ok for us but i can imagine could be problematic for the elderly or disabled. Breakfast was ok, mainly continental but very basic for what we as Brits are used to. We actually went out for breakfast on our last day which was more to our taste and lovely. Staff were lovely, friendly and helpful.
